Fumaça Waterfall from Top
Located in the municipality of Palmeiras, the impressive Fumaça Waterfall lies in the heart of Vale do Capão—a charming and mystical village surrounded by lush forests and countless waterfalls.
With an incredible 380 meters of free fall, it is considered the tallest waterfall in Chapada Diamantina and one of the highest in Brazil. The name "Fumaça" (smoke) comes from the mist that rises when the water plunges into the canyon below.

About the Hike
The 12 km round trip trail has a moderate difficulty level, with the terrain varying throughout the journey:
- First 2 km: The most challenging section with a steep climb up to the mountain plateau. This part requires more physical effort but sets the stage for what's to come.
- Remaining trail: Once you reach the plateau, the path becomes flatter and easier to walk, allowing you to enjoy the stunning landscape.
The effort is well rewarded with the view of one of Chapada's most iconic landscapes—standing at the cliff edge, watching the water cascade 380 meters into the canyon below is an experience you'll never forget.
