Sossego Waterfall is an amazing destination for those seeking contact with nature in the town of Lençóis. Located about 7 km from the town center, within the Chapada Diamantina National Park.
Sossego Waterfall is an excellent option for those seeking adventure and contact with nature. With a bit of determination and physical preparation, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful settings in the region and take a refreshing dip in the waterfall at the end of the hike.
About the Hike
The trail's difficulty level is considered moderate, with some steeper and rockier stretches, and part of the path follows a riverbed. The beauty of the landscape along the way makes all the effort worthwhile. During the hike, it is possible to observe the region's typical vegetation, remnants from the diamond mining era, and spot animals such as marmosets and local birds.
The trail is about 6 km long (12 km round trip) and the entire hike takes an average of 8 hours. On the way back from the waterfall, we stop for a swim at Ribeirão de Cima (a natural pool with an incredible view of the mountains) and Ribeirão do Meio, known as the Chapada’s natural slide.
Important Information
- Good footwear is essential for trails in Chapada. Preferably wear boots or high-top sneakers with good grip on the sole.
