Pati Valley - 2 Days
Staying in the valley
We stay with native families, welcoming homes. Clean shared or double rooms with beds, linens, blankets and towels. Meals are homemade: fresh bread, local fruit, cakes, coffee and generous dinners with rice, beans, vegetables, salads and regional dishes. In high season, you may share the house with other hikers; in quieter months, it's just our group and the valley's hush.

Into the Valley

Pati Viewpoint

Trail snacks by the waterfall

Homemade dinner at a native house
After breakfast and pickup in Lençóis, we drive to Guiné (2 hours), where the trail begins. A steady climb (about an hour) brings us to the Gerais—an open plateau with wide horizons. We cross toward the Pati Valley Viewpoint, pause, and begin the descent. The trail is more technical here, with time to swim at the Funis waterfalls. We end the day at a native house, dinner served warm.
Cachoeirão from the Top

Cachoeirão Viewpoint

Cachoeirão Waterfall
Our second and final day is the longest but incredibly rewarding. We start early and climb steep up to the Cachoeirão viewpoint, the valley's highest waterfall. In the rainy season, more than 20 cascades spill over a 270-meter canyon wall. After taking in the view (and a quick swim, if conditions allow), we turn back toward Guiné, where transport to Lençóis or Palmeiras awaits.
